What can we say about Wavves? They make great music that’s catchy with that unique blend of alternative pop rock and surfer rock all wrapped up in indie lyrics and style. This blending of influences has created some awesome tracks and here are some of our favorites.

Starting with “I Wanna Meet Dave Grohl” which has an excellent headbopping melody supported by killer guitar work. The lyrics are fun, the sound is easy to cheer on, and it’s worth your time as an introduction to what Wavves are all about. It’s easily one of the most chill singles this band has put out.

“Post Acid”, released in 2010, is a young and fun sounding punk song. The simplistic lyrics are misleading as it’s clear that the songwriters were just having a good time. And the music video supports that. It’s playfully about messing with you and having fun about it and is a great song for anyone who’s ever had a joke relationship that’s more about messing with each other than anything else.

And no discussion about Wavves can go on without mentioning “King of the Beach”. This song has that surf rock sound and bounce that makes you want to grab your board and hit some waves. You can just see this playing on a public beach venue while fans dance beneath the hot Cali sun. The lyrics are a lot of fun with a strong statement woven in, “Never gonna stop!”.
